Some Feedback for our Minister Michelle
Questionnaire on the Future Mission of Pier Avenue Baptist Church
June 2025
I have now been minister of PABC for almost a year. Looking back at what drew me here, it was firstly because God showed me the road signs to Clacton (!), but also because I could see how involved you were (and are), as a church, with the local community. We are also blessed by being part of Churches Together in Clacton and by having a partnership with Community Voluntary Services Tendring (CVST).
Although God is ‘the same yesterday, today and forever’, he doesn’t stand still. He is always on the move, bringing the new, and invites us to join with him in his mission in the world. It’s important to honour rites and traditions that are meaningful within the Christian faith. But the Bible also shows us that, if God is telling or showing us to do something differently, then we should. Jesus commanded us to ‘make disciples of all nations … baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit’, but assured us that he is ‘with us always’. This means that we must tell others about the difference that Jesus has made to our lives and invite them to follow him as well… It is also about caring for people, by listening to them, feeding them or offering hospitality…
Pier Avenue is very good at inviting people into our building and making them feel welcome and cared for. But God told us, at Pentecost, that he has more for us to join him in … What might this look like …? What opportunities may present themselves in the everyday lives of each of us, outside of the church building, as well as within it ..?
Please complete the questionnaire below and handed in no later than midday on Sunday 13th July.
Please answer honestly, respectfully and anonymously, if you wish. This will help the Leadership Team and Mission Group, as we make plans for the future. Please also keep praying about what God would have us do …

Mission
Getting ‘Out of the Boat’
Pier Avenue Baptist Church is involved in a number of mission activities including local and overseas mission. Our church tithes a percentage of its income to various charities (which is decided each year) and to the Baptist Missionary Society and Operation Agri for their work overseas. Directly through our Church work, or indirectly through various members and sometimes through the use of our premises, we help to support work in several places:

This is a list of Missions that the members and friends of Pier Avenue Baptist Church were linked with and involved in in 2010.
Sadly today we as less well connected with God’s work Internationally and perhaps have lost the Vision a bit becoming more locally focused.
The challange must be to regain the vision and maintain the local focus as well.
